Jacqueline E. Byers

1949 - 2020

Jacqueline E. "Jackie" Byers, 71 passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Vancrest of Ada. She was born on August 1, 1949 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late William and Gloria (Rose) Abrams. She is also the step-daughter to Donald Sly, Sr. Jackie married Charles Taylor, Sr. in Rhode Island in 1969, they divorced in 1977; she then married Gregory Byers in Kenton in 1979 and they divorced in 1998. She moved to Kenton in 1970 and started working at Essex/United Technologies in 1971, she remained employed there until the factory closed in 1990. In December of 1990 she started working at the Hardin County Home (Hardin Hills) in the dietary department until her retirement in 2018. Jackie was a breast cancer survivor, loved playing bingo, traveling, going to the casinos and riding motorcycles. She is survived by two children, Dawn Marie of Madison, Alabama and Charles R. (Jennifer) Taylor, Jr. of Ada; grandchildren, Tasha (Alex) Daniel of Moulton, AL, Alicia Taylor of Urbana, OH, Caleb Ruff-Taylor of Hamilton, OH, Dylan Hartman and Nick Hartman, both of Ada, OH; five great-grandchildren, Laila and Aden Daniel, Mason Taylor, Lybertie Crawford and Addison Ruff. Also surviving are a sister, Maureen Black of Newport, RI; brother Donald (Barbara) Sly, Jr. of FL and step-father, Donald Sly, Sr. of Newport, RI. Along with her parents, Jackie was also preceded in death by a sister, Sheila. A special mention for Jackie's best friend for over 40 years, Ronnie McClain of Mt. Victory, OH who was never too busy for Jackie. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Rita's Hospice Palliative Care or Hardin County Humane Society.
