Edith Arlene Spencer

1932 - 2020

Edith Arlene Spencer, 88 of rural Kenton passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her residence. She was born on April 1, 1932 in Hardin County to the late Denver and Fannie (Hackworth) Zeigler. On September 11, 1950 she married Eugene Spencer and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2002. Edith was a 1949 graduate of Roundhead High School. Surviving are daughters; Pamela Jo (Mark) Newland of Lima, Vickie Lynn (Nelson) Warmbrod of Kenton and Laurie Jean (Jeff) Johnson of Howard, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother Don (Shirley) Zeigler of Newport, NC, Richard (Brenda) Zeigler of Alger, David (Laura) Zeigler of Juniptor, FL, cousin, Delmer (Linda) Zeigler of Alger. Edith is also survived by grandchildren; Joshua (Mariko) Newland, Jessica Hollar, Jeremiah (Shelby) Newland, Ben (Emily) Warmbrod, Kristen (Matt) Hovermale, Ashley (Cody) Totten, Jordan and Brian Johnson and Gabriele (Rob Mays) Phelps and great grandchildren; Erin, Colin, Lucas, Carter, Avelynn, Sam, Leo and Dakota. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Zeigler and sister, Sherry Devalle. Edith worked for Dr. O Spencer Green, DDS for many years in Kenton and after retiring from there she began working for the OSU Extension Office where she retired in 2008. She was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church for many years. She was a 4-H leader to the High Flyers 4-H club for several years and enjoyed working with the youth. She was an active member of the Buckeye homemakers for many years and enjoyed the fellowship of fellow members. Edith and her late husband have many special friends within the local Amish Community and have enjoyed many special times with them. No service will be held at this time. A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Edith to the Epworth United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.
